Dr Sketchy’s at Shamrokon

Dr Sketchy’s Dublin at Shamrokon 2014; A Tribute To Jim Fitzpatrick with Deirdre J and LedBelly.

On August 23rd, the Dublin branch of Dr Sketchy’s held three mini “taster” sessions as part of Shamrokon (Eurocon) 2014. Shamrokon is a large European fandom convention, with lots of guest speakers and artists.

One of the guests attending Shamrokon this year was Irish artist Jim Fitzpatrick (known most notably for his two-tone portrait of Che Guevara and his album artwork for Thin Lizzy, Sinead O Connor and The Darkness). It seemed only fitting for Dr Sketchy’s to pay homage to the man himself, with a special “Jim Fitzpatrick” theme.

Models Deirdre J and Ledbelly grabbed their swords and tara brooches and took to the stage, striking poses inspired by Fitzpatrick’s work, while attending Art Monkeys sketched away for a chance of winning one of Pow! Cake That‘s fantastically detailed themed cupcakes.

Another very talented Irish artist (and dear friend of mine), Vincent Devine, was even awarded a Pow! Cake That cupcake by Jim himself! Vincent exhibited his work at this years Shamrokon, which you should check out on his website here, or give his Facebook page an ole like here.

Below are my favourite shots from the day, full photoset available soon on the Dr Sketchy’s website.
